Veil is my Homeboy

Just playing around with poses and stuff (hence the ken-doll inspired nakedness). I might do some more before uploading to DA.

This is my character, Veil. He has a few varying versions of himself here and there, but in all the different versions and worlds he's essentially the same character through and through.

Veil Heads

goofin' with textures and stuff. I might do an illustration with this style though. that right one is like so spot on to how I imagine Veil.

I should just do commissions and trades :/

Because I only get things done when they're for other people.

My first art trade on deviantart. An art trade is where two artists agree to draw each other a picture, basically.

I had the worst time thinking of a pose/composition for his character. I really think I'm compositionally challenged. They just don't come to me naturally. Take a look at this sketch I dropped, for instance:

Ew. Not to mention I must have done 20 thumbnails before I came up with this:

and this one, as you probably guessed, is what the finished product turned into. Thank god I was working digitally, is all I can say :/!

and yeah...lol...the hands are farther down than they should be in perspective. I blame that on the fact she was originally sitting on the panda-plushie there and also that I am retarded for not catching that earlier. yes.

screen of WIP. It's already becoming tedious, tiresome, irksome...and then some. This is one of the reasons I'm thinking of dropping that comic strip project from the earlier post...I just can't digitally ink/color and paint fast enough - not yet, anyway. I also can't draw good enough for TSLM standards either.

Which pretty much just means I'm going to have another unfulfilled summer, comic-wise. So much for showing what is in my head. But I'll just practice some more.

just another drawing day

Wolf...

I don't know if I'll finish the actual picture with the background and everything it's meant to have. In the picture Wolf is in a forestry area, blowing smoke outta his mouth there... because some people have sparkly wolf characters with a million wings, psychedelic markings, and Mr.T bracelets, but mine just smokes and eats junk food (granted he's not really a wolf but he's the closest I got).

3 examples of "style" for an artist acquaintance on DA using her character as the subject.

very unsuccessful session. Long poses are long and sucky . I moved to this side of the model after being at a different spot and realized too late that no matter where I seemed to sit on that side the figure had a horrible silhouette. So I...took some liberties. But all my drawings were bad and I did this one 10 minutes for the 2-hour-session ended :/ The leg is like...behind the platform he's on, but without the actual platform drawn in it looks like he doesn't have a leg, haha.

July 7th

I couldn't get the head right...but apparently we're having a 2-session long pose of this pose so I'll get it next time.

Rainy

and here's the 50% view just for you guys (it's kinda big, watch out)

I envision almost all of my stories and ideas and such as animations. I don't see them as still images, but as whole scenes. One thing that's been constantly frustrating me throughout the years is that I've never quite been able to depict a scene in my illustrations. What I mean is basically a mock-up animation screen capture or something; essentially a snapshot of what I see in my head.

Here is the subject alone, by the way:

and just as a point of interest, here's an old picture of the same character I did almost exactly 2 years ago (on July 9th)

Digital Sketching

To the left (you can click it for a bigger view, as usual!) is one of the "monsters" that makes an appearance in The Streetlight Monopoly. It doesn't just throw up hands and skulls from it's mouth...  there are random hands and heads and spines and that show up throughout its body, sometimes when it needs to change it's form, other times just because it's creepy n' for other reasons too. But there's *always* that skull inside of his mouth because I'm making a reference to the mayan vision serpent here.

I also drew a raptor:
